Constitutional Council issues statement marking US embassy takeover

The Islamic revolution led by late Imam Khomeini (RA) marked a monumental uprising by the Iranian people, aimed at putting an end to the colonization imposed upon not only Iran but also other nations by arrogant powers, particularly the United States of America. This revolution served as an inspiring model for all nations worldwide—especially for Muslims and freedom-seeking peoples.
The Muslim student followers of the Imam's line took over the American embassy in response to the US hostility towards Iran, with the 1953 miliatry coup [that overthrew Iran's then-Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh]. It served as a significant starting point for this animosity. Initially, the takeover of the American embassy was a protest against the US for providing the deposed Shah of Iran with a safe refuge. However, with the overwhelming support of the people, this act turned into a significant revolutionary movement and fierce fight against the West’s imperialism on a larger scale.
The documents and equipment retrieved from the embassy provided compelling evidence that the US embassy had indeed functioned as a 'Den of Spies' to counter the independence and popular movements of Iran and the region, both prior and after the revolution, which toppled the US-backed Pahlavi dictatorship in 1979.
Consequently, on November 4, 1979, and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Nov. the 4th marked a pivotal moment that initiated the erosion of America's arrogant hegemony. From that point onward, the situation for the US and other arrogant powers began to change [in favor of freedom-seekers and revolutionary movements].
