Constitutional Council issues statement on Intl. Quds Day

Tehran - The Constitutional Council in a statement hailed the International Quds Day as a worldwide movement against arrogant powers, noting that Muslim nations need to join hands and put an end to the crimes of the Zionist regime of Israel.

Today coincides with International Quds Day, an annual event introduced by Ayatollah Seyyed Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a symbol of Muslim solidarity with Palestine.

Quds Day is observed in over 80 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, and Greece.

What follows is the full text of the statement:

The Islamic Revolution is a grand global movement aimed at establishing the rule of Mustadha’fin (the oppressed) and defeating all Mustakberin (arrogant powers). The preamble of the Constitution (of the Islamic Republic of Iran) articulates this goal and underlines the need to fight [against arrogant powers] to liberate deprived and oppressed nations across the globe.

Today, as the people of Gaza and Palestine endure harsh conditions and remain under attack by the Zionist regime, the Islamic Revolution and the great nation of Iran will, as always, stand at the forefront of resistance, supporting the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance with full strength.

It is hoped that Islamic governments in the region will also join forces with Muslim and freedom-seeking nations to aid the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza.

Although the criminal Zionist regime – as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal - had agreed not to carry out attacks against Palestinians, in recent days, we have repeatedly witnessed its violations of this agreement, leading to the martyrdom of defenseless people, women, children, and even media personnel. The recent crimes of the Zionists prove that compromise with criminals leads nowhere, and resistance must be supported with strength.

The martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Deif, alongside the martyrdom of resistance leaders such as Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Seyyed Hashim Safieddine - from last year’s Quds Day to this Ramadan’s Quds Day - though painful and grievous, did not break the resistance, which remains motivated and steadfast on the battlefield. Hamas’ prisoner exchange was a testament to this resilience.

With the blessings of Allah Almighty, the great people of Iran and other Muslim and freedom-seeking nations across the world will, with even greater fervor than in previous years, declare their support for Palestine and the resistance during the International Quds Day rallies, held in cities large and small, even in villages. They will strengthen the morale of the resistance forces, who stand motivated on the battlefield against the Zionists and criminals with unwavering determination.
